Deregulation got us the subprime mortgage crisis and payday lenders. Republicans constantly call Democrats unpatriotic, so don't act offended when we return the favor. Deregulation caused the savings and loan crisis, and though it is a tenuous argument, probably led to the rampant speculation in oil futures. Tax and spend is better than borrow and spend, which if you've checked is the main cause of the weak dollar and drastic increase in commodities prices. I won't say all Republican planks are wrong, but to say they are all just fine and dandy is intellectually dishonest.

Republicans are in no way unpatriotic! Tax cuts promote economic growth. The President will work with Congress to pass legislation that promotes economic growth - including making his tax cuts permanent.

Health Care issues - Hey somebody has to pay it.
The President's plan will help more Americans afford health insurance by reforming the tax code with a standard deduction for health insurance - like the standard deduction for dependants. Plus, the Affordable Choices Initiative will help make basic private health insurance available and will provide additional help to Americans who cannot afford insurance. These two policies will work together to help more Americans afford basic private coverage...
The President's proposal will lower taxes for millions of Americans who now purchase health insurance on their own, making their insurance more affordable.

Deregulation? Deregulation is good for the economy as it makes industries more competitive. Isn't that good for the consumer? Look at Ma Bell. I haven't paid for a long distance call in years.

Great post. They seem intent on widening the class disparity between us. The elites have always wanted more power and money, and with deregulation they are more able to control the masses. They can siphon or money upwards by deregulating banks, energy, and most importantly media. Our fourth estate is now controlled in large part by three corporations. This election is a perfect example of them attempting to exert their control. They are suddenly attacking Obama outright, because their less overt attempts have failed. They feel as if they have suddenly lost their control over the people, and as such are pulling out all of the stops. This will be a very interesting year.
